WHAT IS TED?
TED stands for team engagement and development. TED is a simple tool and toolkit that is designed to help teams understand how effectively they work together and engage team members in creating actions which improve their effectiveness.
TED is designed to empower, providing team members with a voice whilst simultaneously building the capability of team leaders to have the conversations that matter the most to their team.
TED consists of an evidence-based online survey which measures eight core dimensions of team engagement and effectiveness. TED reports are instantly accessible, giving you the opportunity to access your team scores when you choose. TED reports benchmark your team engagement and effectiveness to help you work out where you need to focus. The supporting TED toolkit provides over 80 different tools and guides for you to use to get underneath your results and engage your team in identifying what it feels like to work in your team having open conversations about where improvement is needed to drive up performance.
WHY USE TED?
So simple, in fact anyone can use it, you do not need a trained practitioner to interpret the results or facilitate the discussion. TED is designed for team leaders to be a tool they use when effectively leading their team.
We know teams come in different shapes and sizes which can vary from day to day or task to task. TED allows the team leader to decide who is in their team and not be bound by organisational hierarchy or formal structures.
Teams are empowered to have the conversations about what it feels like to work in their team. It empowers team leaders by giving them a clear structure to work through independently.
TED is easy to use on every type of device. It is quick to do, with the TED tool taking no more than 10 minutes to complete. It is responsive meaning that you decide when to set up your TED tool and when to download your results, with your TED report landing in your inbox in seconds.
Team leaders are able to have meaningful conversations with their team about being in the team, by building their capability and confidence in facilitating honest discussions enabling the team to identify the improvements that matter the most.
TED cuts out the noise of wider organisation level staff satisfaction surveys and asks the team to focus in on them. It provides the team with easy to interpret feedback against the eight areas of team engagement and effectiveness measured through the TED tool.

THE TED APPROACH
The TED approach closely follows best practice Organisational Development (OD) theory and principles. TED is designed to be an OD solution, a tool which is considered to be a vital part of organisation life and ‘stitched in’ to processes, aligned to supporting strategic aims and bringing about culture change. TED is designed to be a continuous improvement and review cycle, rather than as a one-off team questionnaire incorporated as part of an ‘awayday’ where the results are used once then forgotten.
TED is designed to be integrated, with the TED system and microsite being personalised to your organisation, providing organisations and teams with unlimited access to the TED surveys and the TED toolkit and resources. We want TED to feel part of your organisation, to be aligned to your strategic priorities, to be part of your OD strategy and to signpost to other resources or sources of support which are a key part of the way you do things. TED works best when it is used repeatedly as part of a regular cycle of team engagement and development which ensures that in changing environments, teams have the opportunity to regularly reflect on their situation, what is working and what is not. This enables team members to speak openly, to collectively decide on their priorities and the best way of working to achieve their goals.
